My name is Maria De Zorzi. I was born in Italy and immigrated to Canada at a young age. I live in Vaughan, Ontario.
I am a self-taught artist and have enjoyed painting all my life. In 2020, I started to paint on a regular basis and now operate a small art studio in The Junction area in the City of Toronto.
I have worked with different mediums but have a preference to acrylics because I think they best suit my style. I like to paint pieces that are expressive and meditative. My style ranges from im-pressionism to modern abstract. In my abstracts, I often use strong, vibrant colors and what I refer to as sweeping strokes and anchoring swirls. I do not paint from a reference or a specific scenery. The world around me evokes an idea or emotion and I transfer that onto the canvas. I dream in colors, and I paint my dreams.
