Priyal Thakkar

Photographer

Bio

Blessed in many ways, Priyal believes life has been kind, always having good guides at crucial moments. She believes in herself and has faith and trust in good and truth. Creative since childhood, Priyal is a modern day artist, nurtured at Dr. Bhau Daji Lad
Museum and Rachana Sansad College of Fine Arts. She is resourceful and talented. She successfully ran an organised company of professional photographers’ collective under the name Snapix Photoart after studying photography for two years and working for a photographers’ collective company in Nairobi, Kenya. She has taught photography at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Currently holds photography workshops on aesthetics with Graphy of Unacademy. Her work led to travels which led to discovering Paintographs, which is an exploration between paintings & photographs, invoking a feeling of augmented reality.
List of some of her exhibitions are at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, CSMVS (The Prince of Whales Museum), Mumbai, Index by Times of India, Mumbai & at The Metropolitan Pavilion, MET, New York. She has pursued an education in Indian Art History and Curatorial Studies & then worked in a museum consultancy where she curated artistic and cultural content. She has also written for lifestyle magazines on Art. The Iranian Ambassador has felicitated her for her research. The See Me International Art Community in May, 2020 featured her series dedicated to The Covid-19 front line workers. She had worked on a photo collage concept called Covenant Art which is about recording the journey and the meaning of existence, focusing on little pleasures and
passions of life that impact and inspires all! It makes one feel proud and good. It brings about a different expression of whom or what one is. It is about telling one's unique stories, in an inspirational manner. This concept won her an award by The Petrichor Touch amongst top 20 artists in India, in January, 2021. Her work is also in the wallpaper mural mediums, in abstract photo collage concepts, a product of her own lens working on mental health, positively impacting one’s neurons adding life and
joy to any space. Her current work is Floral Thinking curves and floral henna thought bubbles. The swirls and henna art based thought bubbles in these abstract photo collages, a product of her own lens, and mediums like acrylic paints, watercolours, colour pencils, pens, and sketch pens on paper, along with digital painting on the iPad, and AI generated art, she intricately superimposes digital or hand-made art over her photographs. The artworks depict ones thoughts and thinking patterns that are
constant and fluid. As someone who tends to over think things, she has felt an enormous shift by observing and changing the way she thinks and perceives situations in her head. It is said that if you can change the way you think you can change your
life and bloom like a flower, being the best version of yourself, spreading love, joy, positivity and leaving a fragrance to one and all beings that one comes in contact with. It is an exploration between acting from the conscious and the subconscious. Her hobby is playing the drums and she enjoys cooking.
