Description
The self-portrait is a part of a series of works rethinking the influence of Soviet culture on the present. The works raise the problem of modern understanding of Soviet art. Today's "hybrid" attitude to the art of the Soviet period does not introduce certainty, does not decide, does not divide, but confuses. These are not poles, but intermediate zones - the junctions of modernism and totalitarian art. The Soviet era, on the one hand, is already a thing of the past, but on the other, it still remains in living memory and touches our emotions with a force that sometimes overrides a rational attitude. The revision of the history of Soviet art is already in full swing, and this process can only be supported and comprehended.
