D Chemistry of Love explores the universal theme of love through an abstract, dreamlike lens. As the title suggests, D Chemistry of Love focuses on the overwhelming emotions love evokes. Chan uses pastel colors to transport us into a dream dimension: love transforms the perception of reality, often taking the mind “among the clouds.” Following Chan's narrative line, the emotions evoked by love include:
1. Euphoria and Lightness – Vibrant colors and abstract compositions, as seen in works like Send It My Way or Let There Be Love, suggest the overwhelming joy of love, lifting one “high among the clouds.”
2. Loss of Control and Vulnerability – Works like Come Away with Me and Love is Blind suggest surrendering to love, losing track of time and space as it distorts the boundaries of rationality.
3. Emotional Fusion – Pieces like Some Call It Love or D Chemistry of Love evoke soul and heart merging, represented by pastel tones and blurred forms blending into one another.
4. Emotional Intensity – Each piece acts as an emotional microcosm, where color nuances narrate desires, hopes, and losses.
