On the way to Shimoda

Info
Title: On the way to Shimoda On the Way to Shimoda. On the Way to Shimoda is a series of images taken on my phone, through a train window, as I travelled between Fujisawa and Shimoda in Japan. It was influenced by both John Baldessari’s random street experiments and the use of photography as a form of map-making or topographical study pioneered in Ed Ruscha’s “Every Building on the Sunset Strip.” On a personal level, this work for me is about the horizon, the point at which we as humans have marked our presence against nature and the heavens. It is also about how the journey is more important than the destination. Year: 2019 Size: 101.6cm x 76.2cm Tech data: Giclée Print Artist: David Houghton
