RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH THIS NEW STYLE OF WORK WHERE I ARBITRARILY REMOVED SOME PARTS OF AN IMAGE, & REPLACED THEM WITH SOME COMPLETELY UNRELATED SYMBOLS OR GRAPHIC PATTERNS, TO GIVE THEM A CERTAIN VISUAL ATTACK SINCE THE COMPOSITIONS OF THESE ELEMENTS TOGETHER DO NOT MAKE NORMAL SENSE. THE TRICK IS TO ACHIEVE A SENSE OF HARMONY WITH THESE SEEMINGLY CHAOTIC ALIGNMENTS… LETTING THE COMBINATIONS OF THE DIFFERENT PATTERNS & COLOURS BRING THE AUDIENCES’ MINDS INTO THEIR OWN IMAGINATIONS…

The most recent and experimental series, Mood Swing, represents a deliberate departure from logic, using unrelated symbols and graphic patterns to create a “harmonious chaos.” In his Mood Swing series, Justin Chan explores a new style that reflects a bold and experimental approach to photography and digital art. In this series, the artist arbitrarily removes parts of an image, replacing them with symbols and graphic patterns that are entirely unrelated. The goal of this technique is to create a “visual assault,” a composition that, although seemingly illogical, manages to form a visual harmony through the combination of different elements, colors, and patterns. This strategy gives the viewer a sense of controlled chaos, urging them to decipher and interpret each piece through their imagination. Chan's work invites the audience to step outside the confines of conventional reality to explore new ways of perceiving and reflecting on their emotional and psychological reality. In It’s Superman..., Chan uses the symbol of Superman, an iconic figure of our time, to reflect on the relationship between reality and contemporary mythology. The image is fragmented by graphic patterns that create a visual tension, suggesting that our heroes are chaotic constructs of collective and individual perceptions. Can I Tell U a Secret? plays with the idea of mystery and revelation. Abstract symbols and broken lines suggest a secret about to be unveiled, but the visual harmony does not allow for full understanding. The ambiguity of the image provokes curiosity and invites the viewer to decipher a hidden message. Friday D 13th is a work that evokes a sense of unease and superstition, typical of the cultural association with Friday the 13th. Dark colors and dissonant graphic motifs amplify the sense of an impending omen, while discordant elements create a composition that seems to reflect uncertainty. Hallelujah represents a moment of exaltation where chaos becomes luminous. Abstract symbols merge with vibrant colors to convey a sense of relief and celebration. Despite the apparent disorder, the image radiates emotional balance. Formula I, dedicated to the dynamism of Formula 1 racing, captures the chaotic energy of a driver in action. The work Mood Swing, the eponymous piece of the series, is an exploration of emotional fluctuations. Through the layering of seemingly incongruent symbols and contrasting color palettes, Chan creates an image that captures the sudden shift from one emotional state to another. The composition seems chaotic, but the result is a surprising balance, as if each element finds its place in a latent harmony.
