Bio

I am a psychologist and art-psychotherapist, working as a higher education teacher and doing clinical practice in Santarém, Portugal. I study creativity since 2005 because back then I under-stood that creating brings us comfort and allows us to reflect on things deep within us. Creativity changed my life, and today I work with it to help other people grow and develop through art and self-knowledge. Talking about my paintings, I create mirror images of myself. Creating is a need to deal with the internal world and understand myself better. Abstract creation allows me to imagine beyond what is obvious, to go beyond the visible, and to think subjectively about what I feel. I paint with alcohol inks for their fluidity and unpredictability. Life is also unpredictable, and it is the way in which we manage the unexpected that allows us to have more, or less, aesthetics and balance in our existence. Creating with pastel colors promotes relaxation. Paint-ing brings me “alento”, which in Portuguese means artistic inspiration and strength for self-fulfillment. I would love to bring “alento” to other people’s lives too.
