Description: It is a work that sublimates the poem "The Flowing River" by Kamo no Chōmei, a poet of the Heian period (794-1185), into a painting from a unique perspective.
“The flow of the river is ceaseless; and its water is never the same.
The foam that floats in the pools
Now gathering, now vanishing
Never lasts long. So it is with man
and all his dwelling places on this earth.”
Kamo no Chōmei, Notebook of a Ten-Square Rush Mat Sized World
The water of a river is never the same, it is constantly moving and circulating in a pure and clear way. In the same way, people, buildings, and times are constantly changing. People, buildings, and times are constantly changing as well, and no matter what time, country, or place it is, it is always changing and circulating. Something is born and dies, and then something is born again. It is a miracle that we exist here and now in a whirlpool where something keeps changing even at this moment.
